I don’t think Slytherin House has a portrait hole. In CoS, I think JKR describes it as a blank stretch of wall.

I think perhaps this sentence takes a comma between “selfish” and “shackled.” I love how you’re letting Draco become self aware gradually. You’re playing out his changes in exactly the manner that Dumbledore told Harry that people change.

The physical, yearning language bereft of the buffer that grammar builds up, works extremely well. Draco’s confusion, his unconscious and/or physical desires, his sence memory sends him travelling down paths that he can not control. You’ve conveyed that really well.
