Cripes, you're amazing. And me, right now? A bit incoherent. So, here, let me just ramble, ok?
Here were some of my impressions as I drooled read this story: Greg in low slung pajamas . . . GUH! Mmmmm, sweaty and mountain-man Nick. Grrrrrr. Hey, how'd she know I love handjobs in bathrooms?! Whoa, Greg's gonna top! Then . . . that was, like, really sweet. Jake's a fucker. Aww, Catherine . . . Aww, Catherine calling Nicky . . . Nick, you are so totally dense, how can you not know Greg just wants to be bonked by you and only you?
And, really, I cut and past the entire fic as representative of all of my favorite quotes, but it wouldn't fit (and that'd just be impractical). Instead, here are some that grabbed me in particular:
Pajama pants settled low on his hips, the ends threatening to swallow his feet. . .
hugging his side with an arm that shook very slightly . . . "Thank you," Greg said in a low but clear voice. -- This part, here: wow. Nick's discomfort with bottoming was so palpable that I felt uncomfortable with it myself, but then when Greg's arm came around him, trembling, and then he said thank you, just breathtaking. It spoke volumes about intimacy and trust that neither (or at least Nick) wasn't fully conscious existed between them, of what both we're giving each other through this act. Really well done.
Greg's hand came across his chest and patted softly. Just sweet.
It was just the difference between the steady sort of handsome -- the comfortable, rock-solid kind -- and the bouyant, ebulliant handsome. Priceless characterization.
The apology was there hanging in the air, his own ashamed apology and the one that she had been giving him silently for weeks. Thank you for not villianizing Catherine more than has alreay been done. ♥
I really loved this. As always, I'm impressed by your mastery with words, the way you phrase things so uniquely and you constantly suprise me with your descriptions. And, most importantly, I love your Greg and Nick. Love them SO MUCH. You honor your characters by keeping them human, real, likeable, understandable, and whole. All of them, actually, even Jake -- you don't dispense with complexity. I really enjoy how you drew Nick and Greg's relationship here, the ebb and flow between them, the things that were NOT said that spoke more volumes than something pithy like "I love you" being blurted out during orgasm. Speaking of orgasms, the sex scenes . . . smokin'! Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate all the time and effort it must've taken you to write this story and I feel so very honored that you dedicated it to me.
