While we were there, we found out from a security guy that the band was currently in the building recording. I called Zabie, but she wasn't interested in coming, figuring that we were waiting around for nothing. But a little while later, Adam Clayton comes out and talks with us for about 20 minutes, signing autographs and taking pictures, etc. He was really nice, and laughed when I made a funny, which made me feel like the coolest person in the world, LOL.
After he went back inside to work some more, I called Zabie and told her to get her butt over to the studios, which she wisely did. However, we all began to lose heart after standing out there for a while, and so Zabie, myself, and a couple others decided to head off...
As we're walking away, we see a security guy pulling Bono's car out from the garage. Some people decided to hang around to see if he would stop to talk, but me, Zabie, and I think 4 other Zootopians kept on walking, figuring that since he was driving in our direction anyways, he'd stop if he wanted to when he got to us.
He DID stop for the others, and we were looking at them, contemplating if we should go back, and he leaned his head out of his open car door and waved to us. We waved back, but kept on walking away, hoping that if we acted aloof his ego would make him want to stop for us, too. ;-)
As he started to drive again towards us, Zabie and another girl, Caley, stuck out their thumbs as if they were trying to hitch a ride, just to be funny. And he stopped!
At first he was on his cell phone, but once he got off, he got out of the car and shook hands, took pictures, etc, though we kept telling him he didn't have to since he must have been tired from working all day.
He asked us where we were staying at, and we said "The Clarence, of course!"
Here comes the most amazing part:
He then says, "Well, this is a pretty bad part of town, and you girls shouldn't be walking alone. Why don't I give you a lift?", to which we were of course shocked and near collapsing from trying to keep our cool.
It was really squishy, because there were I think six of us Zootopians, plus Bono, and he has a five seater Mercedes. So Zabie and Caley shared the front passenger seat, and I sat sorta in-the-middle/behind-the-driver on someone's lap, so I of course HAD to balance myself by keeping my hand on Bono's headrest ;-). I just kept thinking, "If I move my hand an inch, I could touch Bono's hair," LOL.
Here's where Electrical Storm comes in:
Bono asks us if we want to hear some of the music they had been working on, which we of course said "yes" to! So he put in the demo for Electrical Storm, and BLASTED it (he had an amazing sound system!! Not surprising.) and even sang along to it while he drove us back to Temple Bar. When the song was over, he asked us what we thought, and we all said it was amazing, obviously.
When he dropped us off, it was so funny, because all these people on the sidewalk stopped and were staring at us getting out of Bono's car, LOL. But Zabie and I didn't get out right away, since we had a job to do :-). I had a copy of our Zootopian schedule for the week, and gave it to him, to which he replied, "OH! You guys are the Zootopians!," while he scanned the paper, and added, "Well, I'll definitely be orbiting your planet."
And that's the story of how I heard Electrical Storm for the first time, LOL!! Exciting, no?
Just as a small closing, later that night when Zabie and I were up super-late at the Clarence working on stuff for the trip in The Study (a residents area of The Clarence) by ourselves, we saw Bono walk in again. He didn't come in the room, but he sorta poked his head in when he saw the two of us sitting there and smiled, to which I almost melted.
I didn't meet him or the rest of the band the rest of the week because I felt bad going back to the studios to disturb them again. Other Zootopians did, however, and met them several more times. Though none of the rest of them got a car ride! ;-)
