I took a philosophy class a few years back which featured the works of Tolkien, C.S. Lewis (actually, all of their little writing group ^_^), and Rilke, including a few others. Tolkien certainly approached his story from an interesting vantage point, didn't he? His languages are so complex. I have taken a couple foreign languages, and I can understand both the fascination with being able to develop rules for your own language, and the absolute complication of such an endeavor. He really was an intriguing person.
