For that reason, I am glad it hasn't come up too often, because I agree that the current group of judges doesn't really represent what half the country thinks right now, and to decide something that will set a precedent for decades to come would be foolish and damaging if the decision didn't represent both viewpoints.
And it IS sad, you are right. Hence, my use of the term "competent courts." ^_^
