I liked the older movie as well. I think it follows the book better, and it's the better movie of the two. But the cast in the newer one is really quite excellent, and the music... Ah, the music. Let's just say I hunted down one of four cds left in Camden Town, London, after years of researching the company and trying to get hold of the soundtrack. I recommend the new movie, especially if you are a fan of the old one and the book. It's Americanized (the boys are survivors of a plane that goes down while taking them home from military school, so there's an added thread of rank and power bias in the film), but it's really very scrumptious in terms of acting, scenery, and music.

I will definitely be checking out this fic of yours. Ha, another fandom is the last thing I need right now... *cracks up* But that won't stop me, of course. ♥
