Harry Potter question for my f-list...

Okay, question...

How many of you fic readers and writers prefer the phonetic-speak for Fleur and Viktor in canon?

Example: "Eet eez no use. I cannot dress in zeez robes." ... "Vat vould you ask of me, Herm-own-ninny?" Etc.

How many of you just wish they were shown speaking like all the other characters, leaving the accents up to the readers' imaginations?

My vote is: That so ticked me off at some points. Especially Fleur's accent. But whatever.

That's an excellent point: too much is overload, and ceases to have meaning. I think italics could have been good there instead in some instances...

I don't really remember if Draco spoke in capslock. I will need to go re-read it. ^_^

it irritates me... i know it's not logical but i find it condescending for the characters. i feel that because of the accent they are perhaps automatically judged as less educated...?
