A Good Summer's Day

I went rafting on the American River with a bunch of friends yesterday. Kind of a birthday celebration, though my b-day was exactly a month ago today... It was great. I haven't been rafting in a few years, and I must say, I missed it. The river was icy cold, the sun hot and beating, and my friends... All I can say is, it was a great group of personalities to get together in two rafts tied together with a life-jacket or two. I love those folks.
I got sunburned, and so now I am aching just a bit, but the great time I had makes it pale in comparison. Got to chat with a friend I hadn't seen in years, met a new friend who turned out to be very much on my thread of personality (and who got terribly sunburned, sadly...), and managed to whoop it up with people I've known since I was very small and still incredibly impressionable. It just seems like the summer day everyone wishes for. I know I'd been wishing for it, and I know this because after everyone went home, I realized a vacant spot had been filled somewhere.
And to top it all off, I got a life-size Legolas cut-out from two of my mischievous buds. Damn, he is fine.
A shout out to the folks I love just as much who couldn't make it... you know who you are. I missed you! *sniffle*
