So. I think this post may go all over the place. Heh. Needs to be more posts like that, in my opinion.
First things first.
visleer and I updated In Another's Hell! Definitely heading for some H/D here, and some D/N as well. But not for a while, as this is a Schnoogle House fic and promises to be long. Rated R for language and violence.
Ch. 1: Insomnia ... and the newbie...
Ch. 2: The Black Wand
We are working on the third chapter now. It's coming in fits and starts, but it's Draco's POV, which I love to write in, so, time allowing, it should be ready soon.
Two: I am feeling fairly accomplished this week. Got an A on my Japanese midterm and an A on an essay I wrote for SciFi in Multicultural America. I also managed to cancel my housing for next quarter and ordered all my transcripts for JET. I also found out that my cousin is coming to visit for Thanksgiving. I don't get to see him enough. He's in his teenage formative years and I just love hanging out with him. Still thinks I'm somewhat cool, which is definitely flattering. BUT... I think I am getting sick. Throat was hurting like a bitch yesterday, and now I am all stuffed up.
Three: Okay, this is for
si_ta, but also for any other people who happen to be fans of Gravitation. I MUST tote my favorite anime of all time with a few fic-links. For everyone who has no idea what I am talking about, Gravi is a 13-episode anime (with 2 OAVs) about a young rock singer who ends up falling in love with a writer. But the writer's past may not allow for their growing feelings for each other. Shonen-ai (which means "boy love"). Lordy, Uesugi Eiri. THE MOST WELL-DEVELOPED CHARACTER EVER. God, I love him. He is so complex! (one note: he also goes by Yuki Eiri, his penname, but I refuse to call him that. Anyone who has seen the series or read the manga will understand.)
Okay. So. My top 3 picks for this particular fandom. And they actually stand alone fairly well, so if you aren't familiar with the fandom, you may still get much enjoyment.
First Line by Eidolon Tree NC-17, Eiri/Shuichi
Eiri and Shuichi's first time. God, Eidolon Tree knows Eiri soooo well! This one blows me away every damn time. My favorite, I think. There are a few grammatical errors, but... the wondrousness of the story overshadows them completely. (Click on the link and find the story by author or title, as their is no specific link to the actual fic)
The Black Between Red and Gold by Isabella Kraft NC-17, Eiri/Shuichi, Shuichi/OC, 12 chapters
Eiri has been dead for 17 years. Why won't Shuichi let him go? This fic is so achingly beautiful. Tragic and sorrowful and wrenching. This is the angst of their entire relationship rolled into one fic. So good. (Click on link, find story by author or title)
Moment of Desire by Transience NC-17, Eiri/Shuichi, 6 chapters
Eiri has found the thing... the person... he needs for the rest of his life. And he's going to act on it. Yowsers, this fic is HOT. HOT, I tell you! *pants* (Ooh, yay! This link will get you directly there)
Okay. Four: Gotta do a bit of a rant here, so I will put it behind a cut.
So. I have been reading livejournals lately, and at the risk of offending some people, I will just say that they are making me very angry. Yes, I understand that people are upset about the way the vote ended up going. Yes, I can see that the situation is grounds for some very angry protests. And yes, I am upset with the results as well. BUT. Neither the results nor our personal feelings on the matter make it okay to verbally bash people who did not vote they way we did. We pride our country because it gives us the open and free opportunity to have our say and make our opinions heard. We can vote. We can protest. We can say pretty much any damn thing we want! (certain recent lj entries that resulted in Federal investigation excluded, apparently, and yes, those events makes me mad, too). But the thing is, IT IS EACH PERSON'S PERSONAL RIGHT TO VOTE FOR WHOM HE OR SHE PLEASES. It is not up to the Bush supporters to smash the Kerry supporters. And it is not up to the Kerry supporters to slam the Bush supporters. I really would appreciate it if everyone tried to calm down and think critically about this before lashing out at random people who were perfectly within their rights to vote as they liked. The voting results were definitely not in my favor. But I respect other peoples' right to support whom they wish. The thing that makes me mad about voting is that I am worried that many voters are not familiar with the issues or the candidates, ON BOTH SIDES. People tend to vote with what they recognize, what they have seen on TV or heard of before, and a lot of the time, that is only one side of the story. Voting is voting. It's a right. It's a privilege, and a wonderful freedom. But I just wish people would really LOOK at what they are voting for, at least to a small extent, before they cast their ballots. Okay. Rant finished.
Righto. Off to do some more homework. Sigh. Reading a short story book that I don't think is written very well. I am starting to feel that a lot of the modern fiction I read is pretentious. But that's a rant for another time.
