So, at 5:30 when I woke up, I accidentally got rid of whatever it was you IMed me before I read it...so not my morning. :) But now to point out all the stuff I did last night but lost.
They weren't drunk, certainly. Harry knew what it felt like to be drunk. The war had taught him that very quickly.
I love that even though Harry has this whole plan, the lightheartedness, the earnestness, the warm fuzzing feelings, there's an undercurrent of what happened Before. You did it with the nightmare, with memories, with their more serious talks. But this one, even with all of that, shows just how hard it was/is for Harry. Because at seventeen, he should not know this. (And really. It's so very you to deal with the serious stuff, and I love you for that.)
The dancing is adorable, and this:
“Bloody dance of love, you know. Stupidest thing in the world. My parents used to do it all the time at parties and look where the fuck it got them.”
Oh poor cynical, lost Draco. THe following conversation is wonderful. It really is.
Harry studied the other boy and made a split second decision. “It’s alright, there’s no one here. I won’t hold you to it like some people would.”
Draco continued to look at him silently. He glanced up at the mistletoe and then back at Harry. Harry laughed. “It’s just a stupid holiday tradition. I never held with it anyway. Kissing’s overrated.”
I love your Harry. I love that he usually knows what Draco needs, or how he will react, even when Draco doesn't. Wonderful stuff, Rerun.
Draco’s face looked determined. “Fuck that,” he said in a disjointed voice.
Harry was still processing his words when Draco slung his velvet cloak to the floor and slipped his arm around Harry’s waist, pulling him against his body.
Threw his cloak on the floor! This, I love. Because it's Draco, Draco making that first move, and he can't take it back, can't say that Harry made him (well he can, but he'll know it isn't true). He's got to own this eventually. And then Blaise. It's perfect, really. How overwhelmed Draco must be, knowing not only that he kissed Harry, not the other way around, but that Blaise saw. And will he tell? Who will he tell? What will people say/do/think...can't wait for more of this, m'dear!
