Well, I guess you have good reason to think real hard about what they'd drink. And what's wrong with Scotch? :-D

[identity profile] tipgardner.livejournal.com 2005-01-29 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
There is not a single thing, to my knowledge, that is wrong with Scotch. It is, after all, the water of life. But aside from Lucius' lack of Muggle knowledge, Glen Morangie, as tasty as it may be, might be a touch too broadly selling for Lucius. Maybe Bowemore or one of the lesser know Islay's, Glen Goyne, if he has family ties to the Queen, Auchincloss for those who like the purity of the old ways...Of course, there are whiskey's far rarer, and I suspect the most rare, by cask strength, age, lack of wide spread knowledgem out right rarity, etc. would be the most appealing to a man as sophisticated, wealthy and haughty as Lucius.

My God, Tip, how much Scotch do you DRINK?? ^_~

[identity profile] tipgardner.livejournal.com 2005-01-29 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah...yes, it must've seemed that way. I don't actually drink that much Scotch. I go through one-person fads. Whiskeys by the barrel full, desert wines, fortified wines, all cocktails - white liquors only, and then all over again...that sort of thing. Me da' is really the whiskey drinker. He must have dozens or more. Keeps 'im young, yeah?

[identity profile] rurounihime.livejournal.com 2005-01-29 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if that comment makes you look like a Scoth-a-holic, then this list makes Fire and me look like... well.

Anyway.

*snicker* Yeah, I actually don't like alcohol all that much. If the drink can cover the taste, then I'm all for it: mudslides, baileys, schnapps, etc.

Woah...careful there, Girl! You'll hurt your stomach. Or your taste buds. Or something.

Here are some sweet drinks that hide their kick:
Lychee Martini
Fruit Flavoured Margaritas (this requires a decent Mexican place with a good bartender, and for flavour think passion fruit, prickly pear, that sort of thing)
French Martini (Chambord, Pineapple juice and vodka)
Cosmopolitan
Apple Martini (red or green)
Pomegranite Martini
etc.

Thank you for the suggestions! Fruity martinis... those sound great. I'm not fond of martinis as they are, so adding some sweetness would be lovely. ^_^

Good luck with your experimentations. If you don't like the taste of alcohol, I would stick with vodka for your mixer. But things like frangelico, amoretto and the like would work well added to tea, coffee, cocoa, etc. on chilly evenings.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. It's good to talk to people who know stuff about booze :-D.

*bows pretentiously with an overwrought twirl of hands and hat*

At your service, Madame!
