I was on IM with Sparks getting very worked up over how much I disagree with nicknames for Draco, and she came back with this lovely gem...

the way I see it, "draco" already is a nickname. a nickname for "His Blueblooded Malfeasance Draco Malfoy, Lord of the Provinces Bish, Badass, and Broken Heart."

MADE MY DAY.

You know, I'm with you on that. I hate stories that shorten Draco's (gorgeous) name to Dray, Drake, Drakie-poo, etc. etc. In my story, Blaise occasionally calls Draco "Drake" as an insulting dig. To be rude and get under his skin. It bugs me to high heaven when Harry and Draco have been in a relationship for a "while" and Harry suddenly starts calling Draco "Dray". kdsha;dkfja;dfj *nails on chalkboard* Just..*twitch* no. I think the "real" Draco would baulk, and proceed to hex Harry's bits off. *L*

You're going to hate me later, but trust me, I will do it with the full knowledge that it pisses people off, including Draco. I will do it for that reason, so incite anger and nothing more. And it won't be from a character who should know better.

I don't think Draco should be shortened to anything either. Especially anything that separates it from its meaning (love Draco's name :-), but then again I'm a dragon lover so...)

I love that name up there. Lord of Bish, Badass, and Broken Heart. Ah, now that is the shit. Tell your friend Sparks I said that too.
