Heh, I will have to dig into my notes on Psycho for one of my classes. Aside from the obvious, that Norman has mother-issues *snicker*... I would need to think about it for a bit. I think when we analyzed it for class, we focused on his love of taxidermy, and how to Norman, Marion is just another form of animal to be killed, stuffed, and preserved in all her perfection, as an extension of his hobby. He can't keep that which he loves in his reality: they have to be dead and preserved. if you look at his mother, dried out and stuffed in the cellar when inconvenient, this makes sense. The lives of Norman's subjects are only allowed to come out into this world through him: dressing up as mum, his excitement over his stuffed animals, having to kill Marion when she takes on her own agenda, but having to do it through his mother instead of himself... He captures their lives and utilizes them.
Just one reading, or viewing, as the case may be. You can do a bunch, of course. ^_^
