well i was originally going to go into clinical or counseling psychology, but apparently those fields are dead. i guess social workers are taking over the field because they have less education and therefore work for cheaper, which means that they are who people hire. last semester i decided that i want to go in to psychiatry (which requires med school) and as of last night it sounds like thats going to take about 10 years longer than what i planned on. it'll be 15-20 years of constant schooling before i can be a psychiatrist. not to mention about $100,000. i was not prepared for that. and even tho they are financially able, my parents are not helping because my dad doesn't give a shit about my future. and they still claim me as a dependant on their taxes, which means i can't get financial aide, even tho i'm paying for my own schooling. i have no idea what i'm going to do and it really freaked me out last night. so today i go to the psych department to see if i can get advise n stuff, and the lady said to come back next week. *sigh* and i'm out of anti-depressants and i don't see my psychiatrist for 2 more days. (sorry for the excessively long reply...)
