That said...
I hope you know by now that you ARE able to write "realistically" very well indeed. Just in case, let me add to the chorus, You Do. And I know this because I have *lived*, am living, THIS relationship. My god, how did you do it??? The frustration, the yelling, the 2 people who *do* CARE deeply about each other, but can't seem to communicate worth a damn... And you nailed the point in the fight where the urge to *hurt* kicks in, where the competitive drive to WIN kicks in and adrenaline makes you stupid.
Not just the dialog, also the movements, where they are each walking on eggshells. You've written it _perfectly_. Hrm, all of it, written *so* perfectly that I think I am going to bookmark it just for your exquisite turns of phrase; reading the actual Story in this chapter is kind of making me ill from the emotional echos. :-/ Still, I do thank you for writing & sharing this!

p.s. FWIW, me & my S.O. were totally as horrible as this at the same age. Separated twice. Somehow learned to stop ~95% of the yelling, but STILL sometimes canNOT understand each other. And have been together for 24 years now. So...it can happen! ;-D
