Retrieve the Kraken!

Okay, tonight's recs are going to shift out of "author" and concentrate on "theme". This is because RU MUST SHOWCASE HER 2ND OTP!!! And that is... REMUS LUPIN/SIRIUS BLACK. (...and it's so canon it's not even funny.)

As much as I adore H/D, R/S fills in holes for me that H/D can't fill. I know, I know, *gasp* there are HOLES??? Sadly, yes. But... that's what second OTPs are for!

So. Here is a list of my absolute favorite R/S fics. (and as always, read all disclaimers before reading the fics)

All R/S, all rated R

Remus and Sirius have a one-of-a-kind friendship... but nothing lasts forever. These are not only engrossing stories, but also fabulously written. The POV changes with each chapter. The emotions felt by Remus are heartbreaking, and Sirius' clumsy good will is adorably bittersweet. PLEASE READ. As Lilo says, "Now this is fanfic."

Next up is a one shot called Eternal Flame, by Mashiara.

R/S, rated PG-13

Sirius' dreams are getting out of hand. This one holds a special place in my heart. The glorious thing about this fic is that it is done so smoothly, you can never quite be sure when Sirius is dreaming and when he is not.

The boys take a trip to Florida. Sounds a little odd, yes. But this fic is very good at the different relationships between the boys, plus, it concentrates on each of the four separately, telling the story from every POV. A few surprises, definitely a good read.

On Axis by Cenori

R/S, rated PG

Some scars run deeper than flesh wounds ever could. This fic is so painfully beautiful... Very sad, but so... real. The writing style is quite unique, and the character portrayal is breathtaking.

A Time Gone By by Just Like Hermione.

Remus has issues. Sirius has nowhere to live. Post-PoA. This fic is absolutely precious! I love it for dealing with Remus, and how his sexuality changes the way he sees his friends and the way they see him.

On with the recs! And my rec choice tonight is... FRULIE. It's Celebrate Frulie Day!

Night has fallen, the wind is whistling through the dark and rustling pines. It is the witching hour, when all night dwellers emerge from their dens. It is time for frulie! Frulie has a knack for writing said night-dwellers into her fics, and a similar ability to coax the reader in, like a vampire seducing her prey. Speaking of vampires, it was Frulie who gave me my first taste of vamp!H/D. So button up your coat, wrap that scarf tightly around the bare skin of your neck, and take a walk in the darkness with the mysterious Frulie.

Harry and the gang are back at Hogwarts, this time on the other side of the teacher's desks. But there is a new student with a few otherworldy connections... and those connections are on their way to the school at this very moment. This is a fast-paced, action packed fic. The chapters move as quickly as the creatures inhabiting them. The Harry/Draco here is not graphic, but so tender and heartfelt.

Here is my favorite one: Our Tree

H/D, rated PG-13

For Draco, the punishment for disobeying is swift and merciless. But the idea of walking through life alone is worse. I love this fic. My first vamp! H/D fic, but also a beautiful fic in general. The description here is breathtaking, the voice of the tattoo artist... Wow. And rarely at the conclusion of a fic have I felt such a sense of *sigh* ...everything is going to be alright. ^_^

Now for a more lighthearted Frulie-creature, One of Your Fathers

H/D, rated PG-13, MPREG

Harry wants to discuss the dreaded c-word with Draco: CHILDREN. This was the first Frulie-fic I came across, long before my lj days... and I was struck by the sweet, loving nature of the conversation here. This is actually a WIP with each chapter being written by a different author, but Frulie started it all. I adore this bout of pillow-talk; every bit of dialogue is something special. The other chapters are a bit hard to find... *psst* Frulie? Can you help me out? *kiss*

Harry's and Draco's ideas of the perfect Christmas just do not mesh. This one is so adorably H/D! I love it. It's like I stepped into a moment of a conversation that has been going on for a while, and will continue to circle around itself long after I have left.

Ah, yes, enne_de_paix This girl rocks. I have yet to read a fic by her I didn't like. Aside from being one of the first people in this lj group that I talked to (waaaaaay back before I got an lj myself), she is a very talented (and humble) fic writer who does my very favorite ship: HARRY/DRACO! The best part is, every portrayal of these boys by enne is different.

So. Recs. (And make sure you pay attention to the disclaimers at the top of each, as I am not writing them here.)

Draco's got a bit of a problem, according to some. But what is the problem according to him? I read this one over and over. The dialogue between Harry and Draco is wonderful.

Enne also recently wrote a SEQUEL to Distraction: Completion H/D, rated NC-17.

Harry wants a little more, but Draco is oddly unwilling. Lordy, this is so HOT. Draco is totally unguarded here. And, she dedicated it to me! *squeee!*

H/D, rated R, a bit OOC

Harry and Draco have a good thing going. But there's something each needs to tell the other... before time runs out. Once again, I LOVE the way the Harry/Draco relationship is portrayed here. The dialogue, as always, is marvelous. But the thing about this fic that really cinches it for me is the interesting close relationship between Harry and Hermione.

And now I am going to be shameless (my apologies, Ennie) and demand that EVERYONE GO READ THIS FIC AND THEN BEG ENNE TO CONTINUE IT! Pleeeeeeeasse?? *bats eyelashes in what I hope is an endearing manner*
