rurounihime: (by wastedfairy)
Well, I am off to Ashland for the weekend to be culture-fied by Teh Lurvely Will Shakespeare. They are showing my favorite of his plays: Richard III. That one has it all. Great dialogue, ghosts, battle scenes, intrigue, murder, curses, Queen Margaret, and of course, the uber-sly Richard of Gloucester. *LOVES*

Back on Monday. Everyone have a great weekend!

Wow. This seems to be my month for traveling. ^___^

Cool! My folks just got back from Ashland. Said Richard was excellent. :D

I liked it muy much, especially Margaret, though I would have loved to see her trump up the creepy vengefulness that is her character. And the ghosts weren't as scary as I would have liked. But the mood was set well, and the acting was excellent.

I saw an all-female version once that I think holds the top spot in my faves so far. But the guy who played Richard this time around was fabulouso.

Glad you liked it. It's always lovely to see good versions of the plays. I just saw a photo this weekend of a version of Twelfth Night with Jimmy Smits as Orsion, and Julia Styles as Viola. I'd love to see that version... :D

Actually, for that play, I think the age difference is perfect. :D And that way, I could drool over both of them. ;P

So totally jealous. It has been a few years since I have made it up there, but I KNOW you will have a loverly time.

Enjoy the bard.

What all did you see?

Love's Labour's Lost (not one of my faves at all), Room Service (funny, but just chuckle-worthy, not like Noises Off), Twelfth Night (GRAND, I say!), and Richard III (my favorite Shakespeare play.

I did! It was so great. Just what I needed.

And where did you head off to this weekend?

Went up to the hot springs for a 'romantic' weekend with that guy who married me. :) The hotel was awesome, but the 'free' food we got as part of our package was....well, let's just say I'll never eat there again, free or not.

Oh yeah, that guy who up and married you. *shakes head* Tsk, tsk. They get bolder every day, don't they?

Sorry to hear about the food. I hate it when I waste time and money on mediocre food. There is so much good food out there and I have no time to waste on stoopid stuff. ^_^

heh. Well, then we saw the footage of what the storms were doing in the south, and I felt like a dope for whinging over something so small.

Yeah, that 'guy' is pretty cool. I think I'll keep him another 11 years...and then see if we still like each other! :D

Have fun! I've never actually seen a shakespeare play... >_> But I hope you enjoy it ^_^

OH.

You MUST.

Twelfth Night or Midsummer Night's Dream are great jumping-off points. But if you want drama, Macbeth or one of the history plays is wonderful. Of course you know my mind: Richard III all the way.
