Went to see:
Corpse Bride: ***
Very, very cute. I love Tim Burton, and this movie has the Royal Triumvirate: Depp, Burton, Elfman. Depp. Burton. Elfman. *swoon*
Alas, I thought the script for Nightmare Before Christmas was cleverer...
Serenity: ***** OMG OMG OMG
RIVER IS TEH SLAYER!!! OMG. It all makes SENSE. And I must have missed the eps that focused on the Reavers because DAMN they were FUCKING SCARY. NO BUSINESS BEING THAT DISTURBING.
And. and. and...
Shepherd! WAAAAAAAASSSSHHH!!
*wail*
Other than the spoilers, can I just say THANK YOU to Joss Whedon for following the laws of physics and at least attempting to make NO SOUND IN SPACE? *wipes forehead*
Rented:
Stage Beauty: ***
Very fun movie about gender-switching and identity. Takes place in 1700s England, just when female actors were allowed to actually act, thereby ousting all the male actors from their female roles. LOVED Rupert Everett, and stupid me, didn't even realize it was him till the end. But Claire Danes is always a treat, and the subject matter was intriguing.
And Billy Crudup? *adores*
Constantine: ***1/2
The angels. THAT'S how I picture archangels. They aren't harpists with crystal-white wings and delicate constitutions. They are warriors. With flaming swords. And the willingness to fight.
I really like Tilda Swinton. And Rachel Weisz.
Alas, the movie only gets 3 and a half stars because, Keanu, I love you. I do. But you need to work on line delivery.

Keanu has kept me from renting Constaintine. I just can't watch him.

Date: 2005-10-10 10:29 am (UTC)From:I love Speed despite Keanu. Maybe because it is a guilty pleasure movie, I'm more forgiving. And Bill and Ted... is supposed to be stupid, so it works.
I have NEVER been able to get past him to be able to get into any of the Matrix movies. I really tried because they were filmed locally and yet that wasn't enough.

Date: 2005-10-12 09:46 pm (UTC)From:FYI, I am going to friend you, and I thought I would just say hello. :) I have recently become obsessed with Harry/Draco, and am (relatively) new to the HP fandom. In the reading I've done, your stories are among my absolute favorites. (I have also sort of quickly scanned through your posts, and you seem like someone whose journal I will enjoy reading.)
In particular, "Once Spoken" just destroyed me (in a good way). I'm not sure where it is in your journal to leave feedback, so I will just tell you that I thought it was incredibly powerful the way just the thought of that promise sustained Harry and Draco through torture and imprisonment (which you wrote in such an understated yet utterly heartbreaking manner.) If somehow that story had not ended happily, I would still be devastated; I'm halfway there anyway even though thank god they were ultimately rescued and wound up together. You write the angst SO beautifully ... that was one of the Eros Affair stories that just rocked my world.
I noticed on your userinfo page that you filter your NC-17 stories in this journal. I am WAY over 18; would you be willing to friend me? Because I would really like to read them.
Anyway ... again, just thought I would stop by & say hi, so any future comments are hopefully not quite so out of the blue. :)

Date: 2005-10-13 07:14 pm (UTC)From:And thank you for such nice feedback on Once Spoken. That one sort fo came out of nowhere, the result of a prompt I really wasn't expecting to end up the way it did. I'm so glad you liked it so much. That Eros Affair was a great project, and it was an honor to be part of the initial run.
I will definitely friend you back, though I have to say, I think only two of my stories are f-locked for being NC-17. One's an H/D, the other's a Blaise/Seamus. But you are welcome to them. ^_^
You can access all my stories in my memories. Hopefully it's easy to navigate...
