rurounihime: (little bug by tarie)
Went to see:

Corpse Bride: ***

Very, very cute. I love Tim Burton, and this movie has the Royal Triumvirate: Depp, Burton, Elfman. Depp. Burton. Elfman. *swoon*

Alas, I thought the script for Nightmare Before Christmas was cleverer...

Serenity: ***** OMG OMG OMG

RIVER IS TEH SLAYER!!! OMG. It all makes SENSE. And I must have missed the eps that focused on the Reavers because DAMN they were FUCKING SCARY. NO BUSINESS BEING THAT DISTURBING.

And. and. and...

Shepherd! WAAAAAAAASSSSHHH!!

*wail*

Other than the spoilers, can I just say THANK YOU to Joss Whedon for following the laws of physics and at least attempting to make NO SOUND IN SPACE? *wipes forehead*

Rented:

Stage Beauty: ***

Very fun movie about gender-switching and identity. Takes place in 1700s England, just when female actors were allowed to actually act, thereby ousting all the male actors from their female roles. LOVED Rupert Everett, and stupid me, didn't even realize it was him till the end. But Claire Danes is always a treat, and the subject matter was intriguing.

And Billy Crudup? *adores*

Constantine: ***1/2

The angels. THAT'S how I picture archangels. They aren't harpists with crystal-white wings and delicate constitutions. They are warriors. With flaming swords. And the willingness to fight.

I really like Tilda Swinton. And Rachel Weisz.

Alas, the movie only gets 3 and a half stars because, Keanu, I love you. I do. But you need to work on line delivery.

*goggles at you*

Hey! I just watched Stage Beauty, who in the movie was Rupert Everett? Gosh, I am feeling like a looser!
I loved the movie, but can't remember when it was realease in theathers?

Rupert Everett played the KING. The king. I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE. And then I was watching the behind-the-scenes and I wanted to smack myself. ^_^

I don't remember ever seeing it in theatres; I rented it. But it was recent, and I was prolly not paying attention...

Well, now that you mention it, the king looked kind familiar. Thanks for the help, next time I'll pay more attention to the movies. Hey! I have a stupid question for you. I gotten into my head that I want to buy a knit cap and scarf with the gryffindor colors. Any ideas where to find one? My husband suggested I knit my own, it will take me forever since I don't know how to do it.
Feel free to ignore the question, I'll still love you and your writing!

Oh, goodness, I really don't have any idea. I would also suggest knitting the scarf at least, because then you can do it how you like. But I bet if you google Harry Potter scarves or some such whatever, you may come up with something. They HAVE to have merchandise like that somewhere.

What didn't you like about Constantine? I have heard so much about how it sucks and yet I still want to see it. =)

I liked Stage Beauty and Corpse Bride though. I agree that Nightmare Before Christmas felt more original in script (and some other parts for me too)

Just Keanu Reeves' delivery. He really is a stiff actor sometimes. Speed was good, and The Matrix was perfect for him. But this one, he sort of fudges it up a bit. Really though, everything else was good. The CG demons were noticeable, but not terribly distracting. For the most part, the FX were good.

I loved Constantine. I bought because I thought I would watch it ten million times...but I don't. So, it's worth watching at least three times to me.

Yeah, I really liked it too. I love movies like that: the apocalypse, the battle between good and evil... Stigmata, End of Days, Exorcist... I love them. And then there's another that came out around the same time as End of Days, which of course, I can never remember.

Oh, the Ninth Gate was okay too.

I rented Stage Beauty without reading the blurb, so watched it without a clue what it was about and absolutely adored. Now I want to rent again.

I have not seen Corpse Bride yet, but am just dying to.

Keanu has kept me from renting Constaintine. I just can't watch him.

Yeah, he's hard to really get into sometimes. In a few movies I don't mind. This one was one of them. But some I just want to make faces at.

In a few movies I don't mind.

I love Speed despite Keanu. Maybe because it is a guilty pleasure movie, I'm more forgiving. And Bill and Ted... is supposed to be stupid, so it works.

I have NEVER been able to get past him to be able to get into any of the Matrix movies. I really tried because they were filmed locally and yet that wasn't enough.

Really? See, I thought the sparse verbal scripting was utterly perfect for him and his abilities. The role just worked because he didn't have to speak too much, and he certainly does have a screen presence. I never had any problem with The Matrix.

Didn't much like the two sequels, but that was for other reasons.

RUPERT?! AS IN. "Best Friend's Wedding" and. "Unconditional Love"? THAT ONE?! *leer* Ahem.

And I am in agreement with the Keanu comment.

Yeah, THAT Rupert. He was mahhhvelous, dahlink. I loved him and didn't even recognize him until I watched the behind-the-scenes stuff. *facepalms* He was great.

River = the Slayer = LOL! So true! :) (I adored Serenity as well.)

FYI, I am going to friend you, and I thought I would just say hello. :) I have recently become obsessed with Harry/Draco, and am (relatively) new to the HP fandom. In the reading I've done, your stories are among my absolute favorites. (I have also sort of quickly scanned through your posts, and you seem like someone whose journal I will enjoy reading.)

In particular, "Once Spoken" just destroyed me (in a good way). I'm not sure where it is in your journal to leave feedback, so I will just tell you that I thought it was incredibly powerful the way just the thought of that promise sustained Harry and Draco through torture and imprisonment (which you wrote in such an understated yet utterly heartbreaking manner.) If somehow that story had not ended happily, I would still be devastated; I'm halfway there anyway even though thank god they were ultimately rescued and wound up together. You write the angst SO beautifully ... that was one of the Eros Affair stories that just rocked my world.

I noticed on your userinfo page that you filter your NC-17 stories in this journal. I am WAY over 18; would you be willing to friend me? Because I would really like to read them.

Anyway ... again, just thought I would stop by & say hi, so any future comments are hopefully not quite so out of the blue. :)

Wow, thank you for saying such nice things about my fics! It really makes me happy to hear that you enjoy them so.

And thank you for such nice feedback on Once Spoken. That one sort fo came out of nowhere, the result of a prompt I really wasn't expecting to end up the way it did. I'm so glad you liked it so much. That Eros Affair was a great project, and it was an honor to be part of the initial run.

I will definitely friend you back, though I have to say, I think only two of my stories are f-locked for being NC-17. One's an H/D, the other's a Blaise/Seamus. But you are welcome to them. ^_^

You can access all my stories in my memories. Hopefully it's easy to navigate...
